Nepal Police launched a mobile application named “Hamro Police” on Sunday that could be used to report crimes and other illegal activities.
The Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office, Ranipokhari, began the application in its bid to digitize police operations and investigations. According to Bigyan Raj Sharma – the Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP), the service of the application can be utilized from three districts of the Valley – Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.
The application can be used to send crime scene pictures, inform location of incidents and report events through free SMS service in case there is no internet service. AIGP Sharma said that the application can also be used to report lost items, missing persons and get locations of nearby police units as well.
The application was designed and launched with the help of Local Interventions Group, Islington College and Third Pole Connect.
